Make it an amazing holiday season for those less fortunate. This is the third year in a row Copper Cannon Camp is encouraging parents to "give a week of camp for Christmas". We are working with low income parents to save a few dollars and give their children a wonderful gift of a Copper Cannon t-shirt and a gift certificate for a week of camp. Last year eight children received that gift and we want to at least double that.
That one week can and does change lives. When asked about her memories from camp, a past camper responded with: “I won a best camper award. To this day, I don’t know why they picked me, but I remember crying. It was the first time I ever really felt liked by my peers. I had only one or two friends at school, but I was friends with everyone at camp. I was one of the oldest campers that year and the kids called me mom. It was great to be looked up to like that. I remember them all cheering when I won that award. I got a small trophy. I still have it. That was 28 years ago.”
Spending time with family and friends during the holiday season reminds us of what is truly important. As the year draws to a close, there is still time to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. Not only that, but all donations are tax deductible!
