Ella and Joshua are excited to celebrate their marriage in Alton, NH this April. The couple met in Providence, RI where Ella was attending medical school and Joshua was working as an engineer. Their first weekend get-away involved hiking Cannon Mountain. This was the first of many weekends away in the White Mountains. The couple ultimately moved to New Hampshire. Ella works as an Ob/Gyn resident at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Joshua is working toward a PhD in Engineering at Dartmouth College. Ella and Joshua spend their free weekends in Bethlehem, NH building a small cabin which shares the same mountain view as Copper Cannon Camp. In lieu of wedding presents, the couple is requesting donations to Copper Cannon Camp so that New Hampshire children can enjoy the White Mountains that have been central to their relationship.
The mission of Copper Cannon Camp is to enrich the lives of under-served youth of New Hampshire by providing a quality, tuition-free camp experience. That one week can and does change lives. When asked about her memories from camp, a past camper responded with: “I won a best camper award. To this day, I don’t know why they picked me, but I remember crying. It was the first time I ever really felt liked by my peers. I had only one or two friends at school, but I was friends with everyone at camp. I was one of the oldest campers that year and the kids called me mom. It was great to be looked up to like that. I remember them all cheering when I won that award. I got a small trophy. I still have it. That was 28 years ago.”
